Meet Your Dentist in Auburn, AL: Dr. Mark Summerford

Dr. Mark Summerford was born and raised in Montgomery, AL. After graduating with honors from Auburn University in 2002, he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from UAB in 2006.

While at UAB, Dr. Summerford received several awards including The International Congress of Oral Implantologists Pre-doctoral Achievement Award, Excellence in Prosthodontics Award, and American Academy of Orofacial Pain Award. He also participated in the work study program in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at UAB where he received extra training in oral surgery.

Dr. Summerford is a tripartite member of the American Dental Association, serving as a past President of the Ninth District of the Alabama Dental Association in addition to serving on several committees of the Alabama Dental Association. He has served as an Alternate Delegate to the American Dental Association representing the State of Alabama and on the Alabama Dental Association's Board of Trustees.

In 2020, Dr. Summerford was awarded the Most Excellent Fellow Award from the Alabama Dental Association for rendering meritorious service to the profession of Dentistry through his devotion to the advancement of the Art, Science, and Prestige of Dentistry. On the Meet the Doctor page, we will change the text in the 4th paragraph to “Dr. Summerford now holds the position of Vice President for the Alabama Dental Association In October of 2021, he will also be inducted as a Fellow in the International College of Dentists. 

Dr. Summerford and his wife, Candice, have one daughter, Laynie, and they are active members of Embrace Church. Dr. Summerford enjoys spending time with friends and family and is an avid Auburn sports fan.
