Have That Painful Tooth Extracted before Women’s Day to Fully Enjoy the Occasion
If you have a broken tooth that is painful or one damaged by decay your dentist will attempt to fix it with some type of dental treatment. However, if there is too much damage to the tooth and the chances of fixing it or even preserving it diminishes constantly. In such cases, the dentist may recommend the tooth be extracted from its socket. If the tooth is extremely painful to make it difficult for you to go through regular activities you may not be able to enjoy an occasion like women’s day which is scheduled in March. Under the circumstances, it would be better for you to undergo the tooth extraction procedure right away to give yourself sufficient time to recover before the arrival of women’s day.
Are Tooth Extractions Only Recommended for Damaged or Decayed Teeth?
Dentists are always attempting to preserve teeth rather than extract them. However, in many cases, other reasons exist for recommending teeth removal. The most common among the reasons are the following:
- Some people have additional teeth that block new teeth from erupting.
- At times baby teeth do not fall out in time to allow permanent teeth to erupt.
- People with orthodontic problems may need to get some teeth to make space for the remaining teeth to move into the desired place.
- People receiving cancer drugs may develop teeth infections because their immune system would be weakened by drugs. The infected teeth will have to be extracted.
- Wisdom teeth after extracted either before or after they erupt in the mouth. Wisdom teeth removal is often a necessity when the teeth are decayed, infected, or if there is insufficient room in the mouth for them.
Preparing for Tooth Extraction
Your dentist will take an x-ray of your tooth before scheduling the procedure. At this time, you must provide your dentist with information about any medications, vitamins, supplements and over-the-counter drugs you are taking and also provide information on any medical conditions you may be treated for with an intravenous drug called a bisphosphonate. In such cases, the extraction procedure must be completed before treatment with this drug filling which your jaw could be at risk of bone death.
Inform your dentist about any health conditions you could be suffering from to make sure all of them are either stable or treated before you undergo tooth extraction. The dentist may decide to prescribe antibiotics before the extraction procedure if you have a specific medical condition, your procedure is expected to be lengthy, or you have an infection along with a weakened immune system.
You can also inquire with your dentist about any precautions you can take on the day of the procedure and have someone accompany you if you have chosen general anesthesia for the tooth extraction.
The Tooth Extraction Procedure
Depending on whether your tooth is visible or impacted you will either undergo a simple extraction or a surgical extraction.
A simple extraction will be performed on a visible tooth in which you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth after which your dentist will use an elevator to loosen the tooth before extracting it with forceps.
A surgical extraction is more involved and you will receive local anesthesia as well as intravenous anesthesia to make you calm and relaxed. Incisions will be made in your gums to expose the tooth and the oral surgeon may also remove some bone around the tooth or cut it before it can be extracted.
How Long Will It Take You to Recover from Tooth Extraction?
Considering the January is almost over and you will require a few days to schedule an appointment with the dentist you would be able to recover fully if you attempt to contact your dentist urgently and convince him or her to complete the procedure as soon as possible for you to prepare yourself appropriately to enjoy women’s day. You wouldn’t want to delay the procedure until it is too late for you to enjoy yourself. You will need a few days to recover after the procedure is over and therefore if you want to be in a good position before March 8, 2020, it is suggested that you contact Dr. Mark Summerford at Central Park Dental Care right away to have that painful tooth extracted from your mouth to enjoy the occasion of women’s day fully.
